THE METHOD, NOT THE MOOD
You’ve read the promise. Below is how it actually works: three mechanisms, and what happens inside the nervous system when you make a mark.
WHY CREATIVE THERAPY, SPECIFICALLY
I don’t work this way because it’s gentler. I work this way because of what we understand about how regulation, meaning and safety are actually built.
Rhythmic, tactile, bilateral mark-making engages the body before it asks anything of the thinking brain. Regulation comes first, insight follows.
An image is something to think with. It carries what words can’t reach yet, and lowers the verbal-retrieval and interoceptive load that makes talk therapy so costly for many neurodivergent people.
Co-regulation in a predictable, low-demand relationship isn’t the wrapper around the work. It is the work.
Our senses help us make sense of the world.
Three ways to work with me
Move a card, or simply scroll, and watch the tether respond.
You do not need a formal diagnosis to work with me. Self-identification is enough.
About Jess
I blend art psychotherapy with a deep respect for neurodivergent minds and the many ways we experience the world.
Together, we create space for what’s real, untangling what feels heavy and making room for what matters.
At your pace. In your way.
